Philippine Missions

Philippines MapFrom the northern region of Luzon to the southern tip of Mindanao, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church supports local, national Filipino missionaries.

The number of missionaries that we support at any time can vary.  We love to get a missionary started but we also love sharing the blessings of supporting a missionary with sister churches.  So, from time to time, we "give" one of our missionaries to a sister church.  Many times this is the start of a program of missionary support for the receiving church.  We encourage all churches to support as many missionaries as possible as the Lord leads.  If you are interested in supporting a missionary contact Bro. Roy Culley at royculley (at) bethelmbctatum.org.

Luzon is the largest and most economically and politically important island in the Philippines.  Luzon is the world’s 15th largest island and the fourth most populous island.  Located on Luzon are the country’s capitol, Manila, and its most populous city, Quezon City.  The island is very mountianous and home to Mt. Pulag, the second highest mountain in the country, and Mayon, the most famous volcano.

Bethel has three missionaries in the Luzon province.

Visayas is one of the three island groups of the Philippines.  It is in the center of the country.  In this are are the islands of Cebu and Negros.

Cebu is a long, narrow island at the center of the Visayan islands.  Located 365 miles south of Manila, it is home to 3.6 million people.  Cebu is know for its narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus and coastal plains, all characteristics of a typical tropical island.  Cebu’s central location, proximity to unusually exotic tourist destinations, ready access to a diversity of local plant, animal and geographical wonders and remoteness from earthquakes and typhoons are some of the special attributes that attract tourists to the island.

Negros is home to Kanlaon volcano.  It is the highest peak in the whole Visayas area and one of the Philippines most active volcanoes.  This island is the county’s prime producer of sugar.  This is the Philippines third largest island with a population of 3.7 million people.

Two more of Bethel’s missionaries are located in this part of the Phlippines.

Mindanao is the second largest and easternmost island of the Philippines and makes up the third island group.  It is the eighth most populous island in the world.  The island is mountainous and is home to Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the country.  This region is home to most of the Philippines Muslim population.

Bethel has four missionaries in this area of the Phlippines.
